What's New in Sage Intacct 2026 Release 3
A closer look at the updates shaping the next generation of financial management
Sage Intacct's 2026 Release 3 brings a wave of enhancements designed to help finance teams work faster, reduce risk, and gain clearer visibility into their numbers. From AI-driven anomaly detection to a more flexible construction billing workflow, this release reflects Sage's ongoing investment in automation and usability. Below, we walk through the areas most relevant to Australian businesses using Sage Intacct.
Smarter, AI-driven decision-making
One of the standout additions in this release is AI-driven anomaly detection for AP Automation. This feature helps finance teams identify potentially fraudulent or high-risk transactions early, before they become a payment error or a financial risk. For organisations processing a high volume of AP and AR transactions, this kind of proactive flagging can save significant time and reduce exposure.
More visibility, less manual work
Billing groups now come with a new invoice preview workflow, giving finance teams greater visibility before invoices go out the door. Paired with draft invoice generation, this update also supports more structured revenue management processes, helping teams catch issues before they reach customers rather than after.
A more flexible construction billing experience
For construction and project-based businesses, this release delivers a meaningful set of upgrades. Automated retainage holding can now be defined and applied directly on primary documents, removing a layer of manual tracking. An enhanced project contract billing workflow (currently in Early Adopter) allows expenses to be billed with far more flexibility across periods and invoices. There's also a new subcontractor payment application workflow, and the ability to view historical cost forecast details within work-in-progress management — giving project teams a clearer picture of where a job stands financially at any point in time.
Streamlined Accounts Payable and Purchasing
Customer refund processing in Accounts Payable has been simplified, and prepaid expense amortisation can now be automated as an Early Adopter feature across both AP and Purchasing. Purchasing also gains expanded approval criteria for custom approval workflows, along with the ability to customise sender and reply-to email addresses for outbound communications — a small but useful step towards more professional, branded correspondence.
Faster Accounts Receivable processing
Teams handling high transaction volumes will appreciate the ability to post multiple AR sales invoices and adjustments at the same time, cutting down on repetitive manual entry. Sender and reply-to email customisation extends to AR invoices and statements as well, and inter-entity bill-back has been enhanced for organisations managing more complex entity structures.
Cash management and fixed assets
Cash Intelligence receives a round of enhancements as an Early Adopter feature, alongside improved precision in how reconciliation information is displayed. In Fixed Assets Management, users can now reverse asset disposals and revert summarised depreciation postings directly — removing the need for manual correcting entries — while the Roll Forward report gains additional dimensions and fields for deeper analysis.
A simpler General Ledger
General Ledger set-up has been streamlined, with easier access to journal entry approvals and faster navigation to journal entry templates — small changes that add up to meaningful time savings for finance teams working in the GL day to day.
Better reporting, cleaner output
Reporting and Insights sees several practical improvements this release: new compare-to options for additional periods in performance cards, new data caching capabilities for the Interactive Custom Report Writer (ICRW), and the option to exclude blank pages from generated reports — a small change that makes shared reports look considerably more polished.
Looking ahead
Alongside these highlights, Release 3 also introduces multi-entity and multi-currency support in Projects, greater transparency for usage-based and quantity-based invoicing in Contracts, updates to Enhanced Sage Intacct Planning (eSIP), and a range of smaller improvements across Company Administration, User Experience, and Tax.
